IRN Ferry is a standalone ferry market research company which was spun out of IRN Research in 2022.  IRN Research was a full-service market research consultancy that was formed in 1991 and had a strong track record in providing market research services to business across all industry sectors. It had produced ferry market insight reports for more than 20 years. In 2022, IRN Research decided to split its operations, with IRN Ferry taking on the responsibility of producing the monthly and annual ferry reports.

IRN Ferry is run and owned by Gary Giddings. Gary has worked in the market research industry for almost 40 years, and is a highly experienced market research consultant, specialising in research into the ferry and cruise markets. Before forming IRN Ferry,  Gary was a director and founder of IRN Research. 

In his time as a market researcher, Gary has been a freelance analyst, managing editor of a leading UK research publisher and a market researcher for American Express. He has a Master’s Degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and is a member of the Insight Management Community (part of the Insight Management Academy).
